Introduction

 IMMUNIZATIONS AND INFECTIOUS DISEASES

Immunizations are one of the leading ways to help combat preventable diseases. Despite this, diseases that could be prevented by immunizations continue to be present within the United States. If a birth cohort receives all their immunizations on schedule, they will save 33,000 lives, prevent 14 million cases of disease, and save $9.9 billion in health care cost1. Because of this, one of the purposes of this blog is to help education the community about the importance of immunizations.

This blog will focus on educating people within Forsyth County, NC. It will partner with the Forsyth County Department of Health, which is committed to help provide immunizations within the county. They will give immunizations that are required by NC law, a lot of times at no cost to the participant.2 The Forsyth County Department of Health will be used to help provide information to the community.
